About the Firm
Built for the long term.
Merrill Financial Group serves clients locally and across the country — with advice that is independent, disciplined, and backed by more than four decades of experience.

Our Story
An independent firm with a national standard of care.
We founded Merrill Financial Group because too many people were receiving advice built around products rather than around their lives. A couple nearing retirement would bring in statements from several institutions and still not know whether they could afford to stop working. A successful business owner would realize that years of growing the company had never translated into a real plan for their own retirement or exit.
Our answer was to build a firm around planning first. We take the time to understand where you are, where you want to go, and what could get in the way — then we shape recommendations around that full picture. Investments are a tool, not the starting point.
Today we work with employers designing retirement benefits, families coordinating multi-generational wealth, professionals early in their careers, and retirees converting a lifetime of saving into dependable income. Different circumstances, identical standard of care.
Leadership
Experience that has seen more than one market cycle.
Ronald Merrill
Senior Financial Advisor
With more than 41 years in financial services, Ron brings a depth of experience that only time can provide. He has guided clients through bull markets, bear markets, recessions, recoveries, and every kind of personal transition in between.
His role today is to make sure every client benefits from that perspective — steady, patient, and focused on what actually matters over a lifetime.
Alexander Merrill
Financial Advisor
Alex helps clients navigate today's financial landscape with an independent, planning-first approach. He takes the time to understand what each client is actually trying to accomplish before any recommendation is made.
His focus is on making complex decisions feel manageable — translating strategy into clear next steps that clients can act on with confidence.
What We Believe
Four convictions we don't negotiate.
- 01
Independence is not a detail.
We are not owned by a product manufacturer and we are not incentivized to sell you anything in particular. Recommendations start with your objectives and end there.
- 02
Plans should survive bad years.
Any strategy looks brilliant in a rising market. We build plans that hold up through downturns, job changes, health events, and the decisions you can't schedule.
- 03
You should understand your own money.
If you can't explain your plan to your spouse or your kids in a few sentences, it isn't finished. We keep working until it's clear.
- 04
Access matters more than scale.
We deliberately keep our client roster at a size where you reach an advisor directly, not a queue. That constraint is part of the service.
Our Promise
Clarity. Guidance. Confidence.
- 01
Clarity
You should be able to explain your own plan. We use plain language, show our reasoning, and keep your whole picture organized so nothing hides in a footnote.
- 02
Guidance
Advice is a relationship, not a document. We stay involved through market cycles, career changes, and the decisions that do not fit neatly on a spreadsheet.
- 03
Confidence
The goal is not a perfect forecast. It is knowing your plan holds up under pressure — and knowing exactly who to call when something changes.
Let's find out whether we're the right fit.
A first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Bring your questions — we'll tell you plainly whether we can help.
